I have a new contract with Microsoft. I’m am working as a department Video Producer for the Microsoft Surface. This great new product can be best demonstrated by web video. These videos can be embeded in the main site, or into a blog. They can also be distributed via video sites like Youtube, or MSN Video.
My main focus is to produce internal facing videos to teach and evangelize the Microsoft Surface to the partner developers. These videos are for a private audience, they are both training tools and viral mechanisms. Every now and then, I get called on to shoot and produce something for the department PR team.
I line-produced and was 2nd AD on the production of this financial teaser. The Director Jay Purcell brought me in to handle a quick, tight production schedule and budget for this teaser. The short stars Agnes Muljadi and Dom Chan.
This project had many financial and logistical obstacles to overcome. We did come in on time and on budget.
There has been 23 video episodes published by the Bones Over Metal podcast over two years. Bones Over Metal.com is now moving more into the blog magazine scene by publishing, producing and managing content by various producers and authors. (That is the future, so it makes sense to go there and provide the service for the niche market.) Bones Over Metal now has over 6,000 monthly site visitors and it’s podcast has around 40,000 monthly downloads. This has all been accomplished with virtually no budget.
My Other Content Management Projects:
Virtual Descent.com - I produced this site and then was asked to teach the owners of the site how to produce and manage content and advertising for this site. The owners were not tech savy, so the site had to have a basic web user level in scope for the backend. Basically, the content management is mostly in the site design, leaving little option to the content producer.
Fluidride.com - I produced this site and continue to be their site editor insuring that the site always looks and operates properly.
Brent Creative and Bones Over Metal produced the DVD Fluidride: like a pro for the guys at Fluidride and Virtual Descent. This is a high concept training video involving green screen and many practical locations.
Simon Lawton of Fluidride/Virtual Descent plans to follow the DVD up with many digital downloads that expand apon the knowledge instructed in the DVD. Check out the teaser for the DVD.
I often refer to the media I create as Contagious Media. Vacutide4000 is an analogy that tells the story of contagious media.
In this story the Salesman decides to stop ringing door bells (traditional media) and instead he engages his customers in their habits and experiences. This is what good Contagious Media can do, it can help the individual or business engage their customers (web traffic) and make a willing audience out of them.
I produced a Flash Concept Site for the video. This site shows how video and other dynamic media can be brought together on the web to create the total experience. The site is a combination of Flash site and Blog site. Again this is a concept site and produced as a showcase. Check it out here.
I produced this Flash Video site for Brian Bartlett and his company Left Side Inc.
Brian and I met via my Bones Over Metal.com work. He’s an above the knee amputee and a downhill mountain bike racer. After a “freak” traffic accident, he was left without a right leg. The following video and the supporting website tells the story of a guy that won’t be kept down.
Brain speaks at schools, companies, and organizations about his journey and how it is in all of us to overcome great obstacles and be successful in our goals. You can learn more about Brain and Left Side Inc at the website. Continue reading ‘Leftside Industries’
